TOULSON AND HARVEY - Pleasance Attic (Sun 6th August)

Not having seen this comedy double act before, but intrigued enough by their 2005 Perrier Newcomer nomination to check them out, it was proved to be an excellent decision to see this pair, for what turned out to be a prime example of what a comedy double act should be about.

The show begins even before you take your seat and the audience is soon part of it all, more as extras than players, as we witness the contrasting fortunes of two astronauts - one American, one Svetlanian (a nod for all the tennis buffs amongst you!) - upon their their return to Earth after being lost in space for 11 years.

Stories are told, characters are built and scenes move on apace, interchanging by fantastic slo-mo musical action, and soon you see the contrasting lives of the two returnees.

The humour is top rate and the satire biting, as both performers turn in a fantastic and possible award winning show. It's clever and well written and well played out and it's your chance to catch one of the UK's most exciting double acts in a small intimate venue before they go huge.

BDH Rating: 4.5 / 5
