JIM HENSON'S PUPPET IMPROV FOR ADULTS - Assembly Hall (Sunday 6th August)
We've all grown up with Jim Henson's puppets in various guises. But do we want to see them curse, talk dirty and simulate public masturbation? Hell yeah!
The Jim Henson Puppet Improv have hit Edinburgh for two very different kind of improvised shows - one for kids, but the goody, the one for adults only.
It's tremendous fun. Full of smut, innuendo and most importantly side splitting, as the MC asks for a variety of suggestions from the audience and the fun begins.
The action is two fold. You can watch the performers on stage with the puppets on their head or watch the filmed action the monitors and TV screens around the venue. The wit is razor sharp and constant, and nothing can floor the talented crew assembled. The only draw back is that they can only be as good as the material to which they are given, so some of it can flop, as for a spell people just try to be as base as they can, but after that initial impulse is over the better suggestions come along.
I love shows which are different every night and you certainly get that with this and it even allowed me to test my own improv skills as I became a man complaining to a paper clip company about not being able to clip my guinea pig to my penis without him falling off! Turns out I should have used the small ones!
Puppets for adults? More please!
